HOW WE MET Teresa and I met in a very funny way. I have told this story many times, but with her potential passing, I thought more people should know this story. (She has told this story herself, so don't worry - she will not be embarrassed !!) Teresa and I worked for a time at a famous Nashville Strip Club - she as a bartender, and I as a maintenance contractor. (I later helped build the new club when it was moved to make room for the new Convention Center) In the daily grind, you sort of ignore the building, people, etc. and just go about your business. On the day we first met, I walked into the club and noticed something different. The club was painted black everywhere, and had red table tops and chairs (I think they were red). Lots of colored lights and everything were all around. I had made this entrance hundreds of times and was used to the scene. However, something was different this time. Everything in the room was in Black and White !! As I turned the corner, I saw Teresa standing at the end of the bar. A spotlight shone down on her, and (I swear this is the truth!!) she was the only thing in the room that was in color!! I did not make a good impression that day (and she will tell you that), but I made inroads with her slowly. I paid people she caught ride with not to give her rides so she would have to let me take her home. I stayed at the club at night waiting for her so we could be together. Something about her was just comfortable, and I had to keep the relationship up. I was not a religious person, but I always said that God himself had delivered me an angel. She made me so much more than I have ever been with her compassion, encouragement, and love. As we joined the Church and the Truth was revealed to us, I now know this was part of the Lord's plan for us - she is my sweetheart and soulmate and, thanks to temple ordinances, my eternal companion !! I thank the Lord for this wonderful gift. I wish she had stayed, but I know we will be together forever in a far greater place. |
